Top Ten Easy Comfort Foods for Busy Moms
1. Super Easy Slow Cooker Tortilla Soup (Albuquerque Moms Blog)
I’m cheating just a teeny bit here, because this is actually my recipe. I wrote it for Albuquerque Moms Blog because it is absolutely delicious! It’s a creamy, cheesy soup packed with flavor. The spice is on point, and the best part is that you can dump everything in the slow cooker in the morning and forget it until dinner.
2. 20-Minute Mac ‘n Cheese (Southern Living)
I saved this easy comfort food video from Southern Living ages ago on Facebook, and every time I want to make it, I had to scroll through tons of videos to find it. Lucky for you (and now, me), I linked to it in this article! I’m a bit of a mac ‘n cheese snob (not a fan of the boxed stuff), and this recipe is gooey, cheesy, and incredibly mouth-watering. And it only takes twenty minutes!
3. Bacon Cheddar Dip (Spend with Pennies)
I love a good dip. You can eat it with so many things: chips, pretzels, crackers, veggies. I make a lot of dips for potlucks (I get requests for our family get-togethers and Sunday dinners!). This dip from Spend with Pennies combines two of my favorite things: bacon and cheddar cheese. It takes five minutes to put together, and is sure to be one of your favorite easy comfort foods.
4. Texas Trash Warm Bean Dip (The Budget Diet)
I told you I love dips! This is my most-requested easy comfort food for potlucks. It’s a warm bean dip from The Budget Diet includes punchy flavors, yummy cheese, and lots of delicious goodness. I add chopped green onions on top after it finishes baking. Confession: I have eaten this dip directly from the pan with a spoon, and I don’t even care!
5. Shepherd’s Pie (Taste of Home)
This recipe from Taste of Home is one of my go-to easy comfort foods because the flavors are all there. I mean, you’ve got potatoes, veggies, and meat all in one glorious dish. I top mine with shredded cheese because, well, why not?
6. Southern Green Beans (Gonna Want Seconds)
I guess I should probably add a veggie to this comfort food list. These green beans from Gonna Want Seconds are so delicious, you don’t even remember they’re veggies! Cooked with bacon and broth, they are loaded with flavor and the perfect addition to any meal.
7. Twice Baked Potato Casserole (Six Sisters Stuff)
Anyone who knows me knows I love potatoes in pretty much any form: fried, mashed, baked; you name it, I love it. This potato casserole from Six Sisters Stuff is so creamy, cheesy, and bacon-y that
8. Best Sugar Cookies (A Spicy Perspective)
News flash: sugar cookies aren’t just for Santa at Christmas time; they are also the perfect easy comfort food when mommy needs a pick-me-up. I have used this sugar cookie recipe from A Spicy Perspective for years, and they are so soft, melt-in-your-mouth good! I actually lost the recipe one time, and had to go through tons of my old pins to find it again.
9. Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies (Favorite Family Recipes)
This is another cookie recipe that I have used for years. Growing up, my mom made pumpkin cookies for both Thanksgiving and Christmas, and they were amazing! However, they have a ton of ingredients and take a while to make, so when I found this recipe from Favorite Family Recipes that only call for three ingredients, I was sold! They are very moist and the perfect comfort food for the days you want something sweet, stat!
10. Best Sausage Gravy (The Salty Marshmallow)
And finally, no easy comfort food list would be complete without some delicious sausage gravy to pour over biscuits. Fun fact: I made biscuits and gravy for my husband the day he proposed to me! While some white gravy recipes tend to be a little bland, this one from The Salty Marshmallow is packed with flavor.
I hope you try these easy comfort foods, mama! They are all my favorites, and I hope they become yours, too. Each recipe is easy, pretty quick, and sure to make your mouth water. Let me know if you try any of them!
